Swimming Programs for the Elite
St Peters Western Swim Club (SPW) is based at St Peters Lutheran College Indooroopilly. With heated 25m and 50m pools, SPW supports programs from Stroke Development through to Australian Representative Squads.
Our Junior Squad based at the 25m pool, consists of Primary, Junior High and Senior School aged swimmers. There are five groups to allow development of basic strokes through to refining competitive skills. Our two Senior Squads based at the 50m pool include both school aged and post school swimmers.

Members of the Junior State Squad are swimmers who are becoming experienced, competitive athletes. Junior State Squad members have competitive skills and technique and can complete training sets with efficient strokes. They are competent medley swimmers who can race all four strokes with confidence.
The Squad’s training sessions are now more complex and work around a periodised annual program with regular dry land training before pool sessions. Junior Development Squad
Swimmers in Junior Development Squad commence lap swimming. This squad builds on stroke technique and skills while beginning to perform basic training sets and complete competitive race distances.
The focus in Junior Development Squad is on the enhancement of the four strokes as well as kicking endurance, race starts and turns. This step of the St Peters Western pathway introduces competitive swimming to young athletes.
Mini Squad
Mini Squad is one step up from Learn to Swim in the SPW Swimming pathway. This is where swimmers start developing their technique of the four strokes as well as building an array of skills that will last throughout their swimming careers. Body positioning and improving stroke and kick propulsion in the water are the key areas that are worked on in each training session.
We are proud of our team of coaches, who have successfully had members of their squads selected into competitive representative squads at all levels, from school teams, regional teams, state and nationals teams and Olympic and world championship teams.
